Arranging the Ghudchadhi and Nikasi: Decorated Ghodi or Baggi, Moving Lights, DJ Gaadi and Safety

At a groom's wedding, the ghudchadhi is the moment the groom, wearing his sehra, mounts the decorated ghodi, and then in the nikasi the whole family dances through the village lanes. Here the route matters more than the tent at home: the ghodi or baggi, the lights moving with the procession, the DJ, and getting everyone through safely. People in the village also know us as "Sukhbir ghodi wala": Bharat Tent & Light House, Khorra sends a decorated ghodi, a baggi, a DJ gaadi and moving lights together for the ghudchadhi.
1. Ghodi or baggi?
- Decorated ghodi: for a traditional ghudchadhi. Our handler stays with the ghodi along the whole route and helps the groom mount and dismount.
- Baggi: good if small nephews and nieces will sit with the groom, or if the groom isn't comfortable on a horse.
- In very narrow lanes a ghodi works better than a baggi; we decide after seeing the route.
2. Plan the route first
Give us the nikasi route at booking: which lanes from the house, which temple or deity's place to stop at, and where the procession reaches the baraat vehicles. That lets us check:
- The width of the lanes, so the DJ gaadi and baggi can turn
- Low-hanging wires or branches that could catch the sehra, the ghodi or the lights
- How long the route is, to plan the lights and generator
3. Lights that walk with you
Jhalar in the street only lights the area near the house, but the nikasi goes through the whole village. So we send moving lights: our people carry lights on both sides of the procession, so the groom, the ghodi and the dancers stay lit all the way and the photos and videos come out clear. For fixed lighting at the house and street, see our light decoration guide.
4. The DJ gaadi
In a nikasi the DJ moves with the procession instead of staying in one place. Our DJ gaadi comes with speakers, mixer and its own power, so no electricity is needed along the route. Give us your song list in advance, especially the special song for the moment the groom mounts.
5. Safety around the ghodi
A horse can be startled by loud sound and sudden light. So:
- The DJ gaadi stays a little ahead of the ghodi, not right behind it, with the speakers not facing her
- No firecrackers near the ghodi; if you want them, set them off away from the procession in open ground
- Leave a little space around the ghodi for the children dancing
- The reins always stay in our handler's hands, even during the rituals
6. The ghudchadhi spot at home
The ghudchadhi starts outside the house, where sisters and bhabhis do the rituals. For this:
- Enough open space outside for the ghodi to stand comfortably and the women to gather around her
- Focus lights above, so the rituals photograph well in the evening
- A few chairs for elders

What care should we take with firecrackers and the DJ near the ghodi?
Don't set off firecrackers near the ghodi; if you want them, do it away from the procession in open ground. Keep the DJ gaadi ahead of her, not right behind, and leave a little space around her. The reins stay in our handler's hands at all times.
