A Birthday Party at Home: Theme Decoration, the Cake Table, a Safe Kids' Area, DJ and Food

Birthday parties at home are now celebrated with great enthusiasm in villages too, especially a first birthday. Before anything else, decide what kind of party it is, because that changes the decoration, the space and the food. Bharat Tent & Light House, Khorra brings theme decoration, lights, DJ, seating and food equipment to your home and takes it back after the party.
Two kinds of birthday party
| First birthday (a big family function) | Kids' party (ages 5–12) | |
|---|---|---|
| Guests | Relatives and the village, up to hundreds | Children and their parents |
| The focus | A stage and photos with the parents and child | Games, cake, dancing |
| Space | Pandal or shamiyana in the courtyard or outside | Courtyard or baithak |
| Food | A full meal from the halwai | Snacks, cake, chaat or small counters |
1. Theme and balloon decoration
A birthday is defined by its theme: the child's favourite colours, a cartoon or a colour pairing. We set up:
- A balloon gate at the door or the pandal entrance
- A themed backdrop on the back wall with the child's name and age
- Balloons and coloured drapes hanging from the roof
- A separate selfie point so guests don't crowd the cake table
WhatsApp the theme colour or a reference photo in advance and we'll bring matching items. You can also see the decoration items in Khorra.
2. The cake table: the centre of the party
The cake-cutting moment gets the most photos:
- Put the cake table right in front of the backdrop, high enough for the child and parents to cut it comfortably standing behind
- Leave enough open space around the table for family to gather on all sides
- Remember to switch off the overhead fan or cooler when lighting candles, and keep balloons and drapes away from the candles
- A soft focus light on the cake so evening photos come out clear
3. A safe area for children
Dozens of children will be running around. So:
- An open area with durries or carpets for the children to play and dance
- Wires and boards placed high and covered, out of children's reach
- DJ speakers set a little away from the children's area, at a volume adults can still talk over
- Chairs along the sides for adults to keep an eye on the children
4. Dancing: DJ and dance floor
For an evening party, a DJ (on demand) and a small dance floor if you like. Colourful LED lights set the mood; jhalar outside the house tells the whole street there's a party.
5. Food
- At a first birthday, a full meal for relatives: our halwai cooks at your home, and we bring buffet counters and crockery for chairs and tables
- At a kids' party, small counters are enough: a chaat or live counter, snacks and the cake
- Coolers in the pandal in hot weather
6. How early is it set up?
For a small kids' party everything goes up by the afternoon of the day; for a big event like a first birthday, the day before. Tell us your date and guest count on 99918 64283. Bringing and collecting the decoration is free within 25 km. Small party or big, we fit the theme, lights and food to the amount you tell us.
FAQ
How do we decorate a birthday party at home?
Pick one theme or colour, then focus the decoration in three places: a balloon gate at the entrance, a backdrop with the name and age behind the cake, and a separate selfie point. Colourful LED lights are enough everywhere else. We put up the gate, backdrop and selfie point before the party starts.
How should we arrange a first birthday?
A first birthday is often a big family function, so: a pandal in the courtyard or outside, a decorated backdrop and cake table for the parents and child, chairs for guests, and a full meal from the halwai. Tell us the guest count and we'll suggest the size.
Where should the cake table go?
Right in front of the backdrop, high enough for the child and parents to cut the cake standing behind it, with open space all around. Switch off the overhead fan or cooler when lighting candles and keep balloons and drapes away from them.
How do we keep children safe at a birthday party?
An open area with durries for the children, wires and boards placed high and covered, DJ speakers set away from the children's area, and chairs along the sides so adults can watch.
Can you arrange the DJ and food together for a birthday?
Yes. Decoration, DJ (on demand), lights, chairs and tables, halwai, counters and crockery all in one booking. For a small party a chaat or live counter and snacks are enough. Tell us your date and guest count on 99918 64283.
